The great German composer and musician J.S. Bach once stated, “The aim and final end of all music should be the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.” With a passion for music, years of musical training and practice, and the love of their Saviour, this is what the Ophoven family endeavors to do. Their heart’s desire is to use the gifts the Lord has given them to minister to others and bring honour to Christ. Hailing from the northwoods of Minnesota, Jerry, Molli, Kate, John, Aaron, and Elizabeth play acoustic instruments and use their voices to blend a variety of music in a bluegrass style, drawing on influences from hymns and gospel music, traditional bluegrass, Celtic, contemporary bluegrass, and their own compositions. With tight vocal harmonies and hard-driving instrumentals, they exhibit joy, energy, and passion. Their musical journey began on a wooden piano bench where each sibling started piano lessons at age five. String instruments were accumulated in the following years, and, in 2008, they began making music as a family regularly as the Lord opened doors. They currently play throughout the Midwest and Canada at festivals, churches, concert halls, weddings, private gatherings, and community events.
